For the first time Chile goes top of the the Brasil 2014 World Cup qualifying league table. Matías Fernández and Charles Aránguiz scored within 5 minutes of each other to secure a late 2-0 victory against the struggling home side. Fernández scored with the help of a deflection from the Venezuelan defence and the Aránguiz goal came in the 90th minute after a folorn-looking Venezuela had run out of steam. The Chile win comes on a the back of a record-breaking 3 consecutive match-winning streak not seen for ‘La Roja’ in the World cup classifying rounds since 1982.
