Chilean tennis player Christian Garin (17 years) stormed to victory at the Roland Garros Boy’s Singles final today, beating German Alexander Zverev in straight sets (6-4, 6-1), making the rising star only the third Chilean to win a boy’s singles finals. The young Chilean has made a strong statement with the win and raised hopes that a a new generation of players will be able to build on the previous successes of old guard legends such as Fernando González and Nicolás Massú. Former Olympic Gold medallist González congratulated Garin over the win on Twitter, who replied simply, “Thanks boss”.
